Having the correct belt sander for you sanding application is critical to have the ability to get your sanding job done and having the right finish. So you have to take a few things into consideration.

The overall size of your material that you need to sand (L x W x H).

The overall weight of your material that you need to sand.

You’ll then have to determine if your sanding job to have a slack belt (A belt sander without a platen).

Then does your area need to be kept relatively clean? If it does you’ll need a belt sander with either a port so you can hook up to your vacuum system or a unit with a vacuum system.

Do you need a good finish so the material can be analysed? If so you will need a wet belt sander to polish your cut sample.
